First of all, I am pretty sure that all the people (all four of them) who read this blog are related to me by blood. Just for grins, please leave a comment on this post so that I can see if my assumption is true.
As far as the great minds. . . I posted a couple days ago about kitchen/dining room doorway. My dad is one of those blood relatives, and he emailed me to ask for a picture of the threshold project, as he was having a hard time visualizing the situation.
I replied with a verbose description plus a couple wobbly diagrams created in Paint to try to explain it.
Dad replied with some other ideas and asked for measurements.
That made me think that I should really try to draw the thing out on paper for him, which I did. Believe me, it looked mostly like two pages of a child’s scribbling. I figured out how to scan them in and email them to Dad.
About four seconds after I sent that email (no joke!), I received an email from Dad – with a drawing attached. I guess we both had extra time today and were sitting around drawing thresholds at the same time. However, Dad’s drawing was on graph paper with nice straight lines and the lettering (in all caps) was legible. Dad’s background is in electrical engineering, and I guess he has a lot of experience with diagrams.
So for now, we still have a step between the rooms, but we also have a beautifully drawn idea of how to reduce its height.
(Please remember to comment if you read this blog with any kind of regularity!)
Hi Patty,
Your blog is listed in my RSS reader so I read any new entries within a day or less of your posting. It is very enjoyable reading about all the activities of your home and how much the kids are doing. I think I’m busy and then I read your blog 🙂
Anna
I’m related to you, as far as I know. At least, by my last check. 🙂
I’m related also – I read it fairly regularly, but not as diligently as Mom
I read your blog all the time. I look forward to it every day and when a day is missing I’m sad. Does this make me one of the 4 blood relatives or am I in a special category of 5 blood relatives? I love it – keep it coming.
Hi Mrs. Roberts!
I’m Jessica’s friend from Blacksburg, and I’m not related! Except as a sister in Christ. =) I read your blog quite regularly (even though I don’t comment, but maybe I should!), and I enjoy keeping up with life in the Roberts family (from a different perspective other than Jessica alone!). Keep it up!
Hi Patty,
Surprise!! I am NOT a relative. I found a family newsletter you had sent, well a long time ago now. Blogs were listed on it, so I finally just looked you up. You are quite humorous and I need humor to get through my days. I am not normally up late, but I was up taking care of baby.
Oh, I check back every few days or so.
