We re-started academics today.

All-in-all it was a good thing. After a really fun week with Aunt Kristy (during which virtually no academics were done at all), it was time.

Yesterday, Jessica, Kristy, and I left at 4:35 AM for the airport, and while she had all kinds of adventures in getting California, Jessica and I returned to the sweet sleep of off day.

Our friend, Janet, had called to see if any of our kids wanted to go with her and her kids to Silver Dollar City on Saturday. I was OK with that, but Scott, a.k.a. the Big Bad Wolf said, “no, Saturday is when we are starting academics. If they want to do their school work today (Friday), then they can go to the City tomorrow. This news was met by one cheerful, “Sure, Mom!” and two glum, “I guess I won’t go then”s.

Andrew whipped out his work Friday afternoon and was bright-eyed and bushy-tailed at 9:00 AM. Jessica and Josiah may have started theirs Friday night while Scott and I were on a date, and they finished about 11:00 AM today. Jessica is not liking Geometry too much, and she had a tough time on her science test. Josiah says his Key to Decimals math is “all repetitive and stupid” and aced his science test.

It was good to be in a routine today, even if it was an odd one. Katie took Jessica and Josiah out to meet the rest of the gang, and it has been very peaceful and quiet around here this afternoon.
